In addition to educating people and reforming education, we at DJN are committed to the defunding and reforming of police- which also needs to include education and understanding of why this is the only way… because the police were never meant to protect people, they are here to protect the “state.”

They get the day off.

We still have some of the worst health care in the first world world- but at least ObamaCare (aka ACA) lived through another attempt to destroy it from racist republicans.

Not that we need anymore reason to want to defund and reform the police- but this story from Knoxville shows, even when another cop tried to call out racism, it is ignored.

The problem is systemic and the system is broken.

While we applaud the efforts- we would have to clarify that “racism” is not the crisis- the racists are.

But is is a start from Chicago…

Then we need more than just performative activism like making Juneteenth a holiday while we take more rights and freedoms from Black and Brown communities.

It’s Juneteenth AND…

It is our duty to get justice for those that have unnecessarily died due to systemic racism and violence.

We have one example of a wealthy white person in TX doing what needs to be done… giving money to more schools and universities for Black and Brown communities.

In addition to the blistering heat and being told not to use our appliances or be subject to unplanned blackouts due to our power grid still not being fixed properly… Abbott took the time to sign a bill banning CRT from schools.

Shame. Ignorance. Racism.
