We stand with trans youth

Texas’ HB25 is yet another harmful anti-trans bill introduced amidst 50 prior anti-trans bills surfacing since January, which if approved at the Capitol will further oppress trans youth of Texas inflicting more trauma and heightening the ever present and devastating influx of depression and suicide among trans youth. HB25 will require public school students to compete in interscholastic athletic competitions based on their biological sex in an effort to create equitable opportunity to biologically female athletes. The bill negates trans visibility and trans youth’s right to access and participate in sports alongside cisgender peers. The bill further states that “courts have recognized that classification by sex is the only feasible classification to promote the governmental interest of providing for interscholastic athletic opportunities for girls.” HB25, if enacted, would ban trans-identifying students from competing in sports due to the bill’s requirements regarding biological sex. Trans youth of Texas you are valid and you matter. We stand with Texas’ trans youth.
