Voting Rights NOW!
“…any voter denied a say in democracy has been harmed, and a remedy is in order regardless of the effect on an electoral outcome.”
― Stacey Abrams
People (who are not white men) have been struggling with voting rights since the founding of the nation.
No one but white men could even be considered to vote until 1870- and it was not until 1965, due to the efforts of Dr. King, John Lewis and other revolutionaries that we began to get anywhere close to equality in voting.
and yet now, here in 2022, we are seeing some of the most vicious attempts at curbing voting rights in hundreds of years.
States like Texas redistricting voters so many cannot vote- trying to get rid of mail in votes and limiting who can even vote in person.
Wide spread rumors of voting fraud yet no sound evidence can be found.
Half the senate refusing to pass needed legislation to save the vote for our most vulnerable as well the largest, BIPOC populations.
Ridiculousness and in many cases, downright racist and systemically corrupt.
