Victim Of Dallas Lynching FInally Honored

Allen Brooks, a Black man, was murdered by a white lynch mob while on trial in Dallas in March of 1910.

3 years ago Dallas said they would honor his terrible death and begin to face the city’s shameful racist past…

Finally, the memorial is becoming a reality.

On Saturday, November 20th, a marker in downtown Dallas will be unveiled.

Brooks died over a hundred years ago and we are just now seeing Dallas acknowledge the disgusting nature of his death- and yet every day, all over Dallas, more insidious and blatant forms of racism occur, and the city is unwilling to see and face them.

Will it take another hundred years to make reparations for all the Black lives lost and lessened by the inequities of this city?

Not if we have anything to say about it.

We are out on the streets every day, we are online, we are here to bring transparency, education and justice to this city.

Wherever Brooks descendants are, wherever his soul is lingering, may there be some peace now that Dallas is finally claiming responsibility for his torture and demise. And may Dallas bring greater peace to all those still suffering with more accountability and willingness to repair the many wrongs to People of Color in this city.
