Rights Taken and Rights Protected: Another Thursday in TX
Perusing local news this morning, attention was caught between two headlines.
One, that TX Republicans failed in their attempt to regulate and control social media firms.
The other, that medication abortions are now banned after 7 weeks.
So much of this work is taking the good with the ugly, the light with the shadow.
How to celebrate the little victories and the steady crumbling of white supremacy, while this toxic system continues to ooze corruption and take us all down with it.
The fact that it is now it a felony to provide abortion medication after seven weeks of pregnancy… and that it also is now a crime to send the medication through the mail… is despicable, deplorable and devastating to so many, but especially lower income women and families.
The fact that Emperor Abbott’s plan to ban social media platforms with more than 50 million monthly users in the U.S. from removing a user over a “viewpoint” was shot down by federal judges is delightful and democratic.
