Monthly PSA on White Privilege Still Ruling the Country
“White privilege is an absence of the consequences of racism. An absence of structural discrimination, an absence of your race being viewed as a problem first and foremost.”
― Reni Eddo-Lodge
Just your monthly PSA from DJN that white privilege is alive and well in a city, town, school, mall, apartment and police station near you!
Whether it is just the Black kid getting arrested after a white kid starts the fight, voting lines and procedures that specifically support white people, highway or drilling plans that only go through BIPOC neighborhoods, the police shooting only sleeping Black people or perhaps a look, gesture or other non verbal cue- white people are experiencing the absence of their race being viewed as a problem “first and foremost.”
And here is another PSA, only white people can do the work to dismantle supremacy and learn to use their privilege to liberate others.
But first:
“You have to get over the fear of facing the worst in yourself. You should instead fear unexamined racism. Fear the thought that right now, you could be contributing to the oppression of others and you don't know it. But do not fear those who bring that oppression to light. Do not fear the opportunity to do better.”

Do not fear the opportunity to do better! Get to work!
