Gratitude 4

Hold on to what is good, Even if it’s a handful of earth. Hold on to what you believe, Even if it’s a tree that stands by itself. And, hold on to what you must do, Even if it’s a long way from here. Hold on to your life, Even if it’s easier to let go. Hold on to my hand, Even if someday I’ll be gone away from you.

– Crowfoot, Blackfoot

Honoring our first nation and Indigenous brothers and sisters these next few days. Their capacity for gratitude and reverence even after all of the violence, disease, oppression and genocide they have endured is nothing short of amazing.

Their respect for the land and life is what will ultimately save this planet. The first nations came out in huge numbers to elect Biden, despite being the hardest hit with covid!

We offer gratitude for our first nation and indigenous family today and always, especially the first tribes on these lands, the Wichita, Comanche, Caddo and Cherokee, as well as those who are still living here today, Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas in Livingston, founded in 1854; the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas in Eagle Pass, founded in 1983; and the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo in El Paso, founded in 1968.
