Facing The Full Spectrum

It is easiest to split the world into binaries:

Black and white

Good and bad

Right and wrong

Left and right

But more and more, we realize the spectrum of human experience.

On one hand, we have those trying to deny the fullness- to take away the right of those claiming non-binary, neuro-diverse, differently abled, polyamorous…

and others trying to dilute it with confusion, ignorance, corruption.

Politicians unwilling to call out blatant wrong, evil, media playing both sides with equal fervor.

Seeing the same image with several paradoxical headlines attached.

Refusing to acknowledge that racism exists in every system of this culture.

Truth is not simple- as many cannot see beyond their small window of perception.

But people show us who they are.

Like Joe Rogan, who got his spot on spotify for being a racist good ole’ boy.

Trump, who literally has never tried to hide his wild narcissism.

The children who are coming out as trans, speaking out at young age what they know to be true- what they feel is right.

Every person has the right to show us who they are

and then we have the responsibility to see them and to hold them accountable.

Not just when it is comfortable or easy or co-signs our version of reality.

Every LGBTQ+ person should feel safe to be free in their body

Every BIPOC should feel safe to be free in their body

and it is not okay for racists, rapists, liars to be free in their hate

Both exist.

Let people show you who they are- and respond accordingly.
