As Long As You Keep a Person Down
As millions suffer in TX today with no power and freezing temperatures- this quote from Marian Anderson rings true.
The oppressor also oppresses themselves.
The effort it takes to hold down others ultimately limits your own upward mobility.
It should seem so obvious that the more free we are, the more free we all truly are.
May our society, especially those still trying so far to hold on to outdated systems of racism and intolerance, realize that they limit their legacy and the potential of every being on earth with their unwillingness and ignorance.
Such needless suffering.
Stay safe today, Dallas.
“As long as you keep a person down, some part of you has to be down there to hold the person down, so it means you cannot soar as you otherwise might.”
Marian Anderson
