TX “Beta-Tests” White Supremacy in Our Schools
This is one of many reason we are ready to get into action- education is of utmost prority to our cause and Texas is at the top of the list of states ready and willing to limit and white wash education as they continue to oppress Back and Brown communities.
We won’t stand for it. But here is some of what we are up against:

But House Bill 2497 centers on the year Texas won independence from Mexico and is meant to promote a “patriotic education” to the state’s residents.
“To keep Texas the best state in the United States of America, we must never forget why Texas became so exceptional in the first place,” Abbott said in a video on Twitter before passing the law…But critics are concerned the new project is a part of Republicans’ nationwide push to limit the discussion of critical race theory in schools. House Bill 3979, now awaiting Abbott’s approval, will limit how Texas educators can discuss current events and racism in the U.S. The 1836 Project also requires the promotion of “the Christian heritage of this state.” Another piece of legislation awaiting Abbott’s signature, Senate Bill 797, requires Texas schools to display the term “In God We Trust” across campus buildings if such signage is donated to them.
It’s good to have public arguments about history. It’s healthy, as long as it’s a fair fight. But having government’s thumb on the scale never works out well either for education or government. We seem to be in a period of general backlash against the plain truths of how this country came to be. We have lived through these before. They are never pleasant. And it’s not just Texas, either. On the electric Twitter machine, we were treated to a school district meeting from Virginia that got all hot and bothered about “critical race theory,” which I will guarantee you many of the hot and bothered know nothing about. As is obvious from the accounts on the ETM, white panic was at high tide.
One parent says she’s very worried about what she’s seeing in schools: “Training our children to be social justice warriors” and “to hate our country” ...
There is going to be more of this. The conservative media is a dog with a bone again. By the time the schools re-open in the fall, Sean Hannity is going to be telling his universe of shut-ins that kids are being taught that Malcolm X killed Lincoln and the bastard deserved it.”
