There is No In Between In Racism

As another year starts and we reflect on the work ahead, one thing is clear: People have to choose if they are racist or anti-racist.
It is not enough to say you are not racist and put a BLM sign up in your yard.
This has been our whole platform for the past year, especially in wealthy Highland park and similar areas in Dallas.
If you are anti-racist, that means you do the work. You do the inner work of educating yourself on racism, dismantling your privilege, fragility, and you do the outer work of reparations, speaking up against injustice and centering BIPOC communities.
We offered the college pledge as a simple way to do both.
Examine your response to the request, process your feelings, sign your name, create generational change.
It has been disappointing but not surprising at how many so called allies have been unwilling to do this.
We see your performative anti-racism and it will continue to cause harm to our most vulnerable- especially as winter rages and Covid rises.
Isn’t it time yet for you to really step into what being anti-racist means? How may more must suffer and die before you are willing to actually commit to changing the narrative and breaking out of this endless cycle of corruption?
Think about it.
