2. An end to the Dallas Police Association. Police unions like DPA exist primarily to prevent bad cops from being held accountable.

We recognize that these are charged words for many people.

“Not all cops are bad,” we hear, “cops save lives,” we hear. “Cops serve and protect.” “Cops sacrifice their lives.”

These are true statements, but if we reflect back on goal 1, what community safety looks like, or the previous James Baldwin post on actions vs words… you will understand the deeper need in ending or defunding the DPA. These unions make it very challening, almost impossible, to hold the “bad apples” responsible.
