Justice for Patrick Lyoya
“this was an unnecessary, excessive, and fatal use of force against an unarmed Black man who was confused by the encounter and terrified for his life.”
(Attorney Ben Crump)
Yet another Black man found an untimely death at the hands of a police officer.
This time, we look to Michigan and the execution of Patrick Lyoya on April 4th, 2022.
Lyoya was pulled over at 8am for improper registration (aka driving while Black)
"It should be noted that Patrick never used violence against this officer, even though the officer used violence against him in several instances for what was a misdemeanor traffic stop”
(Ben Crump)
The cop was literally laying on him when he shot him.
The name of the cop is not being released and the family of Lyoya is awaiting justice.
Will they get it?
The news lately has not been on the side of those killed by police.
Many communities have begun demonstrations and protests on Patrick’s name.
Nothing can bring this man, who was a beloved son and family member, back.
Once again, we ask the cops be held responsible. We ask that training and access to guns be more important than arming anyone who seeks a firearm.
We ask that cops remember Black lives matter- and to work on their biases and bigotry.
We continue to fight for justice and an end to this unnecessary violence and harm.
