Is Education Fulfilling its Purpose?
“I often wonder whether or not education is fulfilling its purpose. A great majority of the so-called education people do not think logically and scientifically. Even the press, the classroom, the platform, and the pulpit in many instances do not give us objective and unbiased truths. To save man from the morass of propaganda, in my opinion, is one of the chief aims of education. Education must enable one to sift and weigh evidence, to discern the true from the false, the real from the unreal, and the facts from fiction.”
― Coretta Scott King, The Words of Martin Luther King, Jr.
As Scott King states so powerfully: Education must enable one to sift and weigh evidence, to discern the true from the false, the real from the unreal, and the facts from fiction.
This is why we are so passionate about education in our communities. How many adults cannot sift and weigh evidence?Discern true from falks, real from unreal, FACTS from fiction? Socia media, media, news, it is overhwleming how much information, how many supposed experts are constantly inundating our minds.
Do you consider yourself educated? Do you educate the children in your life? How do you discern and share discernment? What qualities are most important for considering oneself "educated?"
