If You Aren’t Outraged… Insanity in Texas
As we read through local and state news today, like many days, we can not help but be deeply disappointed and disgusted in so much of the insanity that ensues in this state.
Now, we are very aware that insane thinking and acting is not just present here, and as the latest school shooting takes innocent lives in Michigan and another killer cop trial begins in Minnesota, we do admit to a general consensus of crazy continuing to overtake the US of A in these tumultuous times.
But much of our attention, energy and resources are focused in our local cities and state, and the news today screamed out titles like “Abortion access hangs in balance in Texas…” or Alleged January 6th rioter facing federal charges running for Texas Office…” and “in Shadow of Texas drilling site, health fears escalate…”
While these articles might seem to be about different topics, they have several important things in common, namely the negative effect they have on our primarily BIPOC neighborhoods.
These are the communities who will suffer without access to affordable abortion and birth control services, the ones getting sick from the greedy Texas drilling. The people who will be unfairly harmed by another white supremacist in office.
It truly is exhausting and infuriating every day to watch Abbott and other republican racists enforce their insane agendas. We are grateful for our team and other grass root organizations that refuse to give up on Texas, that will continue to speak and work towards truth and freedom.
We are disgusted by the news today, but glad to have resources to be informed, and to choose our response from a place of commitment and passion for the people we love and serve.
