First Off… (A response to our College Pledge REQUEST)

Last week we asked our white allies to step up and do their part to end the multi trillion dollar racial wealth gap.

First off, we want to thank the many people who have reached out to thank us and support our efforts.

We knew not everyone would be happy about us asking some of the wealthiest folks in Dallas to make minor sacrifices to give hundreds of thousands of black and LatinX students opportunities they have been denied for centuries.

But we were truly disturbed by the vitriol coming from people who claim to be “progressive” and supporters of Black Lives Matter.

Turns out, when they are asked to make sacrifices, they all turn into Tucker Carlson and resort to racist and personal attacks including threats of violence which goes to prove white fragility is real.

Others have sought to delegitimize our group by claiming they know nothing about our organization.

We have been out meeting people in the community for ever since widespread vaccinations made it safe to do so.

We have had several scheduled DJN meetings at Klyde Warren Park and impromptu get togethers around the city.

We had another scheduled meeting planned for Thursday afternoon at Klyde Warren Park but in light of threats of violence will be moved to a more secure location next week with details to come later this week.

We hope to meet more of you in the coming days and explain the importance of our work to promote a just city.
