Confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson!
Action is our platform and that is what we are asking from the people and politicians- hopefully the US senators do the right action and confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson- we need more like her in the senate if any change or action is going to come!
“Judge Jackson has been nominated by Biden to sit on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, which is considered the second-highest court in the nation. She is remarkably qualified and, if confirmed, would become one of the first Black women to be confirmed to a Circuit Court in ten years.
A Judge Jackson confirmation will install a judge who can begin to undo some of the damage Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell did to our federal courts.
For the sake of civil rights, health care access, and so much more, our U.S. senators must vote yes on her nomination.
In March, President Biden began nominating federal judicial nominees. With over 100 vacancies and the lasting effects of Trump’s 200+ appointees, Biden and the Senate have a lot of ground to cover. Thankfully, we’re just steps away from confirming progressive, fair-minded, civil rights-focused judges from Biden’s first slate of nominees.
On May 20, the Senate Judiciary Committee (SJC) voted to advance a number of nominees from Biden’s first slate, including Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, nominee for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Now, her nomination heads to the full Senate floor.
Judge Jackson is eminently qualified. She currently serves on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, a position the Senate voted unanimously to confirm her for in 2013, and is former public defender with a proven record of advocating for equal justice for all.
Judge Jackson and Candace Jackson-Akiwumi, another of Biden’s nominees in the first group to advance out of the SJC, would be the first Black women to be confirmed to a Circuit Court in ten years.
This nomination is important for everyone to know and care about. The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals is considered the second-highest court in the nation, with many judges later advancing to the U.S. Supreme Court. Judge Jackson’s nomination may be consequential for years to come.
By confirming Judge Jackson, the Senate can begin to undo some of the damage Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell did to our federal courts. For the sake of civil rights, health care access, and so much more, U.S. senators must vote yes on her nomination.”
