Calling on DISD to Transform and Renew Education

“All of us in academy and in the culture as a whole are called to renew our minds if we are to transform educational institutions–and society — so that the way we live, teach, and work can reflect our joy in cultural diversity, our passion for justice, and our love of freedom”

(bell hooks)

Last week Ndure took time to visit the offices of DISD to discuss the need for charter schools and better educational opportunities for all of Dallas, not just the wealthy, white neighborhoods.

Starting this new year as bell hooks says, ready to renew all our minds so we can transform educational systems.

“To educate as the practice of freedom is a way of teaching that anyone can learn. That learning process comes easiest to those of us who teach who also believe that there is an aspect of our vocation that is sacred.”

We just hope the board at DISD believes that…

Ndure hand delivered letters for each board member and now we are eagerly waiting their response.

Every child in Dallas deserves an inspiring, liberating, powerful experience of education.
